Although genetic factors play a role, neurotoxins such as arsenic, chlorpyrifos, DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane), ethyl alcohol, fluoride, lead, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), manganese, mercury, and toluene are major contributors to the prevalence of neurobehavioral illnesses such as Alzheimers, and memory loss! Eating foods that cleanse the body of toxins and adding natural Glutathione and NAC is key to long life antiaging, liver and brain health!

Since it's effective in reducing levels of inflammatory compounds like IL-6 and TNF-ɑ, MSM may reduce stress on your immune system. Additionally, it plays a part in the creation of glutathione, your body's master antioxidant. It may also help increase levels of this important compound. What do garlic, glutathione, glucosamine, NAC, alpha-lipoic acid, chondroitin, and MSM have in common? Sulfur-a compound that helps the body heal in a variety of ways.MSM administration (5 weeks, 80 mg/100 ml drinking water) produced a statistically significant increase in liver glutathione (mean increase of 78%). A similar effect was not seen in lung or skeletal muscle.

Sulfur is found in two amino acids in food: methionine and cysteine. It’s primarily derived from dietary proteins, such as beef, fish and poultry. However, there are vegetarian sources of sulfur as well, such as cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, watercress and mustard greens. A number of human and animal studies have found that eating sulfur-rich vegetables may reduce oxidative stress by increasing glutathione levels.

N-Acetylcysteine, NAC is made by the human liver by altering the amino acid cysteine and can be found in high-protein foods, such as meat, fish, seafood, chicken or turkey. Minor sources are eggs, whole-grain products such as breads and cereals, and some plants including broccoli, onions, and legumes. Allium vegetables, including garlic, shallots and onions, also boost glutathione levels — likely due to their sulfur-containing compounds. Why does garlic also lower blood pressure? It’s the sulfur. A recent study found that the allicin in garlic gets converted to hydrogen sulfide, which relaxes the blood-vessel cells.Brazil nuts are one of the best sources of selenium. One ounce, or about six to eight nuts, contains about 544 mcg. Make sure you only eat a serving of Brazil nuts a few times a week to avoid selenium toxicity. One hard-boiled egg provides about 20 mcg of selenium. Don’t like hard-boiled? No worries, go for eggs cooked any way you like, and you’ll still get a dose of selenium.

However, including foods naturally high in glutathione, like avocados, spinach, and okra, may help decrease oxidative stress. The following should also be a weekly priority...

1. Consume Sulfur-Rich Foods · ‎2. Increase Your Vitamin C. · ‎3. Add Selenium-Rich Foods

All of the above work to support Glutathione a peptide found in plants and animals. It is a powerful antioxidant produced by the liver to protect the body against free radicals, peroxides, and heavy metals. Glutathione also eliminates poisons such as drugs and pollutants from our bodies.

What are the signs of low glutathione?

The signs and symptoms of the deficiency may include anemia, the buildup of too much acid in the body (metabolic acidosis), frequent infections, and symptoms caused by problems in the brain including seizures, intellectual disability, and loss of coordination. Vitamin C helps reprocess glutathione by converting oxidized glutathione back to its active form.
