YOUR PASSPORT VOIDS DEPORTATION WOES!

IN 2024 BLACK PASSPORT OWNERSHIP AT ALL TIME HIGH

The ownership of U.S. passports among Black Americans has shown notable trends in recent years, reflecting broader patterns of travel and international engagement within this demographic. According to recent survey data, approximately 40% of Black Americans currently hold a U.S. passport. This figure indicates a significant increase compared to previous years, suggesting that more Black Americans are recognizing the value and necessity of having a passport for international travel.

There has been a growing interest in international travel among younger Black generations, including Millennial and Gen Z Black Americans. This demographic is increasingly seeking experiences abroad, whether for leisure, education, entrepreneurial and/or business opportunities.

The rise of social media and travel influencers has made international travel more accessible and appealing. Many Black travelers are sharing their experiences online, which encourages others within their communities to explore global destinations.

As educational attainment increases within the Black community, the likelihood of owning a passport also rises. The data indicates that individuals with higher education levels are more likely to have a passport. This correlation implies that as more Black Americans seek higher education, they also become more inclined to travel internationally. Their skill levels, access to the American dollar, and openness to working with people in nations historically exploited by those who are phenotypically different give these Americans of African descent an advantage in building trust in business.

Impact of American Fascism on Passport Ratings

The rise of far-right ideologies, often referred to as fascism, in the United States has raised concerns about its implications for various aspects of governance and international relations. However, as of now, even though our ranking has dropped from number 1 prior to 2016 to currently number eight there is no direct evidence that this drop in rank has significantly affected the ratings or validity of U.S. passports. Passport ratings typically reflect a country’s diplomatic relationships and global standing rather than internal political movements.

Understanding Passport Ratings: Passport rankings are determined by the number of countries that allow visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to holders of a particular passport. The Henley Passport Index is one such ranking system that evaluates passports based on these criteria. The U.S. passport has historically ranked highly due to the country’s strong diplomatic ties and influence worldwide.

Current Status of U.S. Passport Rankings: As of 2024, the U.S. passport remains one of the most powerful in terms of travel freedom, allowing access to over 180 destinations without a visa or with visa-on-arrival options. This status is largely unaffected by domestic political trends but can be influenced by international relations and policies regarding immigration and travel.

Factors Influencing Passport Ratings: While domestic politics can indirectly affect international perceptions (for example, through policies that may lead to strained relations with other nations), changes in passport rankings are more directly related to foreign policy decisions, trade agreements, and international diplomacy rather than internal ideological shifts.

Conclusion on Impact: In conclusion, while the rise in American fascism may have broader implications for social cohesion and civil rights within the country, it does not currently appear to impact the ratings or acceptance of U.S. passports internationally.

How to Apply for a U.S. Passport

  • Applying for a U.S. passport involves several steps:

  • Determine Eligibility: To apply for a passport, you must be a U.S. citizen or a non-citizen national who meets specific requirements set by the Department of State.

  • Complete Application Form: You need to fill out Form DS-11 if you are applying for your first passport or if your previous passport was issued when you were under age 16 or was lost/stolen/damaged/issued more than 15 years ago.

Gather Required Documents:

Proof of citizenship (e.g., birth certificate, naturalization certificate).

A government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license).

A recent passport photo that meets specific requirements (2x2 inches in size).

Submit Your Application:

For first-time applicants or those who do not qualify for renewal by mail, you must apply in person at designated locations such as post offices or passport acceptance facilities.

Pay the application fee; as of 2024, this fee is typically around $130 for a standard adult passport book.

Track Your Application: After submission, you can track your application status online through the U.S. State Department’s website.

Processing Times: Standard processing times can vary but generally take about 10-12 weeks; expedited services are available for an additional fee and can reduce processing time to about 5-7 weeks.

In summary, while there is no current evidence linking the rise in American fascism to changes in passport ratings, applying for a U.S. passport involves completing an application form, providing necessary documentation, submitting it at an authorized location, and paying applicable fees.
