Elon Musk and President Biden have both discussed an insane plan to block out the sun to stop Climate Change!
'Sun blocking' technologies - also known as 'solar radiation modification' - could theoretically cool down the earth by reflecting sunlight back into space. One idea involves pumping sun-blocking particles into the upper atmosphere. Critics of geoengineering say using aerosols and other substances to reflect sunlight away from Earth could lead to unknown, disruptive weather patterns. They also contend that solar geoengineering could result in a global dependency, because temperatures could abruptly rise if the process is stopped.
60 Scientists Are Trying to Block the Sun. The experts say reflecting sunlight will reduce the risks of climate change. Will it work? As the world continues to warm under the effects of climate change, scientists are investigating ways to keep the planet cool. U considers joining international efforts to combat climate change by blocking the sun's rays. The bloc to evaluate the security implications of a rapidly warming planet, including the potential for scarce resources to trigger conflict and migration.A White House document that revealed the Biden administration is considering studying blocking the sun's rays to slow climate change sparked surprise and mockery on social media.
The types of geoengineering methods the Biden administration is reportedly considering are "stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI) and marine cloud brightening." Social media users questioned how the government could think this was a good idea with actor and comedian Rob Schneider remarking, "So the same morons who said, ‘Masks work and you can’t get covid if you get the jab,’ want to block out the sun?!" In a separate statement after the release, the White House said, "There are no plans underway to establish a comprehensive research program focused on solar radiation modification."
When Elon Musk launched a Tesla into space, it carried a sign saying “Don’t panic" on the dashboard – but the billionaire was in a more doom-laden form this week. The SpaceX and Tesla pioneer warned, in an interview with The New York Times podcast Sway, that travel to other planets was necessary as Earth would be engulfed by the Sun.
Speaking to host Kara Swisher, Musk said: “I think this is fundamentally important for ensuring the long-term survival of life as we know it, to be a multi-planet species. “Eventually the Sun is going to expand and engulf Earth. It will expand and incinerate Earth. It is for sure going to happen – but not any time soon.” Read More: Starlink, everything you need to know about the satellite network
This is something of an understatement, as the Sun’s expansion is not predicted to happen for at least seven billion years. Musk said that becoming a multi-planet species would allow human civilization to dodge extinction events that had affected other species. He said: “The fossil record does show many extinction events over the millennia, from meteors, from super-volcanos, from natural climate variation.”
