About the event
Located near the Meso-American Great Barrier Reef, the largest barrier reef in the Caribbean Sea (second largest worldwide after Australia's Great Barrier Reef), Roatán has become an important cruise ship, and eco-tourism destination in Honduras. Tourism is its most important economic sector, though fishing is also an important source of income for islanders where historically they grew their own food with ease and lived in a tropical paradise the rest of the world wants to package and sell. So the Islanders are faced with encroaching capitalism and loss of irreplaceable habitats and ways of life. Black coral was asked to help them find a balance between the two worlds so that all parties win!
